26/5 - 28/6 2012

The exhibition celebrates our contemporary time’s profusion of approaches to sculpture by enlisting the participation of three artists from the older generation and three newer names. With their works, which span across small sections of the floor as well over larger wall surfaces, the exhibition displays breadth — in both time and space.

The word “topos” (Greek: “place”) forms part of a number of words with widely disparate meanings, including utopia, dystopia, biotope and topography. Using organic materials, Marianne Jørgensen shapes these words and renders them tangible and thereby designates the place and the landscape as real and essential factors in any society, elements that shape not only the understanding of a given culture but also people’s selfunderstanding.

29/7 - 14/8 2011

Eight students who are studying at the School of Sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts have moved into SKULPTURI’s premises and have turned the room into their own, at a moment in time when their art school is busy making cutbacks and spending its energies on politics and everything else but art. The exhibition provides a totally up-todate look at the sculpture medium’s many possibilities and forms of manifestation.

4/5 - 2/6 2011

At the exhibition, Anders Bojen and Kristoffer Ørum “rewrite” their autobiographies on the basis of a mathematical system in a movable and fragmented video installation, which establishes a spatial interpretation of a new and unstable hybrid identity.

20/11 – 18/12 2010

Mikael Thejll examines how space can come into being between color, material, language and existence. He has constructed four rooms for screenplays, where the viewer can sit down with carton of fruit juice and a script and lose himself in an imaginary universe.

7/8 – 4/9 2010

The sculptor, Tommy Støckel, has invited five artists who all have a firm foothold in sculpture to exhibit their experiments with the medium of film. This time-bound medium is used, for example, to document a constructive process. We have the work of Henriette Heise, who is apparently assembling a television set,  but is actually taking the apparatus apart and simply playing back the film in reverse. The films are plain and unpretentious, with a single camera setting and without any use of music or speech.

Karin Lorentzen has filled flowers with plaster and has subsequently pulled off the stamens and the petals. The flower’s interior, its “nature”, has been immortalized in plaster and the sculptural form has hereafter been fastened to the ceiling with the opening facing upwards, in the manner of upside-down stucco or a stalactite formation. On the floor, remnants of flowers and fallen flakes of plaster are lying about — trails left behind in the wake of the working process.

The exhibition’s title, “Lock”, refers to one of the sculpture genre’s most fundamental proclivities: the capacity to fixate a situation — a gesture — in time and space. With Monika Brandmeier’s (D) new pieces, this particular aspect of sculpture manifests itself in an expanded sculptural field that moves into close dialogue with SKULPTURI’s exhibition space.

17/10 - 14/11 2009

The site’s space – the place between void and the possibility of unfolding oneself – fashions the starting point of this exhibition. Tina Maria Nielsen takes her mark in a number of “found”, subdued and non-authoritarian things and transforms them into weighty matters by transposing them into new materials like bronze, concrete, wax and rubber. Drawn out from a transparent “actionspace” — and placed into a charged sphere of meaning. Instead of looking through them, we now see them and look at their indisposed materiality, their history and their language.

22/8 – 13/9 2008

The exhibition presents a number of sculptural works that place an emphasis on the meanings that can arise in working with the physical material. Here, there are no limitations on what materials are used: there are Chinese fortune cookies, laths, chewing gum and pot lids. All of the participating artists have been asked to address themselves to the specific exhibition space. Taking their points of departure in this premise, they have been working out toward the material’s boundaries.
